The Legacy West corporate corridor brings a steady stream of relocations, and with relocation comes family who visit properly rather than briefly. A large share of our Plano conversations start with a parent, an in-law, or adult children staying for several weeks, sometimes several months, sometimes indefinitely. That single fact settles the product question before we discuss anything else.

For a stay measured in weeks, the mattress is not a detail. Cabinet and chest beds use a folding mattress sized to collapse into the case, which is genuinely fine for a long weekend and not fine for two months. Wall beds take a standard residential mattress, so they sleep like an ordinary bed indefinitely. In Plano we will talk you up from a cabinet bed more often than we talk you down.

The housing stock helps and complicates in equal measure. Much of Plano was built through the 1980s and 1990s, which means a formal living room and a formal dining room that are, between them, the two least-used rooms in the house – ideal conversion candidates. It also means 8-foot ceilings are common in that era’s builds, so a vertical queen frequently will not clear and a horizontal model is the answer.
